Above the bay: reserving a Petoskey historic hotel stay

From, room for two$3102 nights · from $160 per personNot included: taxes, fuel and meals.

Two nights in a historic downtown hotel above Little Traverse Bay make up this Petoskey historic hotel stay. Before anything is held, our office checks with the hotel that a room is open in your month, then sends a single written quote you can read at your own pace, and no room is reserved until your written yes arrives.

Petoskey sits at 45.38 degrees north, past the halfway line between the equator and the North Pole. From Oakland County the drive up is yours, registration happens at the hotel's desk, and the hotel collects payment itself. Our office charges you nothing at all: no planning fee and no booking fee.

Fossil stones on Little Traverse Bay

Those gray stones at the top of the page, wet at the edge of a calm bay, are the kind people hunt for here. Petoskey stones are fossil coral, and they turn up on the beaches around Little Traverse Bay, which lies below the downtown bluff.

Down at the water, Bayfront Park leads out to a red pierhead light on the breakwall. A paved trail follows the bay toward Harbor Springs, the Bear River runs through rapids in a wooded valley close to downtown, and the Gaslight District keeps its shopping streets in the center of town.

Downtown historic hotel above Little Traverse Bay

A historic downtown hotel above the bay, with its own front desk, is the lodging here, and the picture beside shows a lodging of this kind. Registration and payment happen at that desk. Your written quote carries the hotel's name, which stays off this page. The figure counts the room for two for 2 nights at the hotel's rate for the month, plus free parking, as the hotel shows it.

Two nights downtown above the water

From $310 for the room for two, 2 nights in all, or from $160 per person. Behind it sits a working rate that starts from $154 a night for November 2026, drawn from rates the hotel showed on a public travel website. No mandatory nightly fee was shown, and free parking is included.

Left out of that figure are fuel, meals, Michigan's 6% use tax and any county room tax. Summer nights in Petoskey run far higher than the November rate. Once the hotel gives its real rate for your dates, your quote uses it in place of our working number, and our pricing page walks through how each figure is put together.

  • Fuel and meals
  • Summer nights, which run far higher

Open water months and a pricey July

May to November, the open-water months on the bay, is when our office plans Petoskey. The hotel keeps its doors open all year, though December to April stays off our calendar. July is the high month here, and busy summer weeks cost far more than the figure above, so a spring or late fall date keeps the total nearest to it.

Answer from the hotel, in one page

On a single page you will find the hotel by name, a description of the room, the rate for your nights and the room total, along with the taxes the hotel will add and its own cancellation terms. Read it, ask for changes, or simply let it go. A room in Petoskey is held only after your written yes reaches us, and at that point our office asks the hotel to reserve it in your name.

North to Little Traverse Bay
